Teacher Training

We organise an annual training workshop for Saturday School teachers, usually in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut and the German Embassy. This provides our teachers with the opportunity to share their experiences, get new ideas and learn new ways of engaging our children to learn German.

How do you run a Saturday School? We exchange experiences and ideas for running a Saturday School, e.g. finding teachers, premises, funding, insurance etc.

Cultural events for Saturday School children

Once a year we organise a cultural event for Saturday School children in London - concerts, theatre performances etc. These popular events are once again supported by the Goethe-Institut and the German Embassy.

Among our performances were German singer Detlev Jöcker, who is well-known for his children's songs in Germany, Cologne puppet theatre "Nulli & Priesemuth", and the well-known Galli-Theater, which runs children and adult theatre houses in several German cities.

German Festivals and Traditions

An important part of our weekly Saturday School life is the communication of German culture. The individual schools celebrate German festivities and traditions like Carnival, St. Martin lantern walks, Easter egg hunts, "Nikolausfeiern" etc.
